storia

From Italy to Canada

MAPEI entered the Canadian market in 1976 by supplying products for the installation of the running track for the Olympic Stadium in Montreal. MAPEI then incorporated MAPEI Inc. in Canada and opened its first plant in 1978 in Laval, Quebec, where the company began producing adhesives for tile and resilient flooring. From these small beginnings with one chemist and two quality control specialists, MAPEI Inc. began to research, develop and produce ever more innovative products for the Canadian market and the rest of North America.

Operations across the country

MAPEI Inc. has facilities located throughout Canada, with production facilities in Quebec, Ontario and British Columbia, a distribution center in Alberta, and a Technical Services Department beyond compare in the industry. The original Laval plant is now 128,000 square feet (11 892 m²) in size, including an R&D Center of Excellence for Concrete Restoration Systems, two polymer reactors, production and warehousing facilities, and the corporate headquarters. The Laval facility is currently expanding to add a 50,750-square-foot (4 715-m²) powders production plant, and a second R&D laboratory dedicated to concrete construction for Nordic climates worldwide, projected to open in 2023.
